Tender, melt-in-your-mouth beef topped with cheesy, cauliflower and potato mash is the most comforting of pies. This recipe was made for eating in front of the fire, alongside a glass of red wine.

The filling and topping can both be made the day before and kept separately in the fridge overnight – the beef will be better for it. Assemble, then bake.
