What they do:
Owners Alex and Gwilym Owen describe Launde Farm Foods as “a family-run business every step of the way”. Gwilym works across all aspects of the business, from lambing to sales, and having learned the art of butchery from scratch, now has his own apprentice in the farm’s cutting room. With the growth of Launde Farm Foods, Gwilym’s wife Alex has stepped in to help run the business.
The team pride themselves on prioritising animal welfare. Lambs are born and raised free-range on their brother-in-law’s farm. They are transported a short distance to a local abattoir then butchered back at the farm.
It’s these factors that Launde Farm Foods believe produce lamb that “cannot be beaten for flavour or tenderness”, and is behind their growing customer base. The business has supplied lamb for the Queen’s Jubilee meal and to Michelin-star restaurants, and Gwilym and Alex regularly sell their lamb at local farmers’ markets.
This is the second year that Launde Farm Foods has been shortlisted in the delicious. Produce Awards and they’re pleased by the opportunity to “throw their hat in the ring again”.
