delicious reviews: Ninja Dual Drawer Air Fryers
Ninja are the best-selling brand in the air fryer market at the moment and their two dual-drawer models the AF300UK (7.6L) and AF400UK (9.5L) regularly top the best-seller lists. Each drawer is an independently controlled cooking zone, but does cooking in them live up to the hype?

What’s good about it?
Both models have good size drawers which provide lots of potential to cook a range of dishes. You should be able to cook a whole chicken (a 1.4kg one fitted in the smaller model) or a 2lb loaf in either model, but you will also easily be able to cook frozen pastries, chips, vegetables and small pasta bakes.
The control panel is clear and intuitive to use, the different settings are labelled with words rather than symbols and there are temperature and time controls for each drawer. You can sync both cooking zones so they finish cooking at the same time and Ninja’s wide temperature range (from 40°C to 240°C) means that both of these air fryers are as good at dehydrating as they are at making crispy fries at high temperatures. Both models scored highly when we tested them with roast potatoes with very fast cooking times. The Max Crisp feature is excellent for finishing off dishes and giving them a crispy top in a few minutes.
Both the drawers and crisper plates in these air fryers are non-stick and can be washed by hand or in the dishwasher.
Ninja are in a class of their own when it comes to support documentation, their instruction booklets are clearly laid out with lots of diagrams and images and all their products come with a short recipe book to get you started. Once you have got to grips with how the six different settings (Dehydrate, Reheat, Bake, Roast, Air Fry & Max Crisp) are used you’ll be up and running and you’ll soon find yourself telling everyone that you haven’t used your oven for weeks!
Ninja air fryers also come with a one-year guarantee, extended to two years if you register your purchase within 28 days. I’ve had to use their customer service and found it extremely efficient with replacement parts sent out quickly and efficiently during the guarantee period.
What’s not so good about it?
The Ninja Dual Drawer is quite a simple air fryer and so you will find other models on the market with more features, like windows in drawers, dedicated grill plates or pre-heat functions. Whether or not you actually need these functions is down to personal choice. I personally believe Ninja’s simplicity works in its favour.
Ninja air fryers also come with a premium price tag, so they aren’t the cheapest option to buy.
The AF300UK and AF400UK do not have a built-in meat probe – to get one of those, you’ll have to spend a little more money and upgrade to the AF451UK.
Our favourite feature
Ninja’s strength comes from its market dominance. If you buy one of its air fryers you’ll find lots of support online from other Ninja owners and a wide range of third-party accessories made specifically for your model. Buying a popular product with a ready-made community means they are a good choice for first-time buyers. If one of your friends doesn’t already have one (and it’s highly likely they do!), you’ll be able to find a group online full of people who do.
Overall verdict
Comprehensive documentation, a good range of accessories and excellent customer support make the Ninja hard to beat. While there are air fryer models with more features on the market, both the Ninja Dual Drawer models make excellent first air fryers for families, who will find them intuitive to use with consistent results.
