Eight Christmas tree decorations you’ll want to eat or drink

Forget about candy canes, there are new edible AND drinkable Christmas tree decorations in town. And I plan on buying them all.

I’m not a traditionalist when it comes to Christmas, so naturally I love the idea of decorating the tree with tiny bottles of booze or edible treats, rather than glass balls that cost more than a meal. And the best bit? By the end of the year you don’t have to pack away boxes of decorations because you’ve already a) eaten them or b) drunk them.

Should you fancy joining me, I’ve rounded up eight of my favourite Christmas tree decorations…There’s even something for the fur baby in your house.

1. Sipsmith Gin Tree Decorations, £25 for six, Sipsmith

These dinky little bottles look like something out of Alice in Wonderland. They’re just screaming ”drink me”.

2. Christmas Tree Decorations Tin, £39.50, Biscuiteers

Prettier, and cheaper than a box of sub-par decorations, these beautifully iced biscuits won’t hang round long. Yes, pun intended.

3. Mini Star Loose Leaf Tea, £6, T2 tea

You know that really exhausted feeling you get in the run-up to Christmas? So exhausted that you can’t sleep, as your brain calculates the hours until the big day, how much you’ve over-spent on presents and do you really have to invite aunt Sally again? You don’t need that. What you do need is one of these stars hanging from your tree. So, when the exhaustion hits you’ve got something to ensure a good night’s sleep.

4. Prestat Christmas Angel Chocolate Filled Bauble, £9.50, Harrods

A colourful bauble filled with Prestat chocolates? Well, don’t mind if I do…

5. Strawberry and Prosecco Gummies Christmas Bauble, £3.95, notonthehighstreet.com

You can put strawberries in your prosecco and baubles on your tree. But what if you can put a strawberry and prosecco gummies-filled bauble on your tree? Day made methinks.

6. Gourmet Popcorn Bauble, £5.99, Joe and Steph’s

It’s been debated that popcorn is the new crisps. Now it could be the new Christmas decorations. I’ll take the crisps and several of these salted caramel popcorn-filled baubles.

7. Meringue Christmas tree decorations, DIY, delicious.

I’m a fan of these meringue decorations as you can make them with the whole family. And you can eat them, of course. Now, how to tell my boyfriend that his is too ugly to hang…?

8. Personalised Pet Bauble, £15.50, notonthehighstreet.com

Is it just me or does everyone buy their pet a Christmas present? Treats encased in plastic and hung from a tree – hopefully your favourite fluffy friend won’t devour it before Santa comes.
