Bonfire Night menu
Gather family and friends for an autumnal dinner with real sparkle. Our relaxed Bonfire Night menu serves 6 and is the perfect way to kick off your Guy Fawkes Night celebrations.
Bring the spiced lamb shoulder to the table and serve with roasted rainbow carrot salad and homemade flatbreads. Follow it up with a very special, Bonfire Night-themed dessert that will get everyone talking. We’ve also included golden spinach and ricotta rolls, which work equally well as a starter or as a portable snack to take out to a fireworks display. Round off the meal with our gingerbread hot chocolate, or decant into flasks before you head off into the night.

Bonfire Night Menu
Spinach and ricotta rolls with autumn fruit ketchup
These spinach and ricotta rolls make a delicious change from sausage rolls. Dare we say it, we think they’re even tastier than their porky cousins! Finish with golden puff pastry and a generous sprinkling of sesame seeds and serve with our autumnal fruit ketchup, a tangy relish made with blackberries and plums. Make them a day ahead and serve as a starter, or pack them in your rucksack for a fireworks display snack.
Slow-braised lamb shoulder with preserved lemon and spices
Spiced lamb shoulder forms the centrepiece of our relaxed Bonfire Night feast. Coat the lamb with a homemade preserved-lemon spice paste, then cook it low and slow for meltingly tender results.
Slow-braised lamb shoulder with preserved lemon and spices
This colourful salad makes the perfect light and zesty accompaniment to the lamb shoulder. Encourage your guests to spoon the warm salad onto the homemade flatbreads along with some lamb and tahini sauce. Bonfire Night is all about keeping things cosy and informal. Keep this recipe up your sleeve as this versatile dish is perfect for lunchboxes or served with chicken or salmon.
These pillowy flatbreads are perfect for dipping in tahini sauce or for stuffing with the lamb and roasted rainbow carrots. Sprinkle the dough with za’atar, a fragrant Middle Eastern spice mix.
Brownie tart with coffee cream and toffee shards
Your friends will remember, remember (sorry!) this spectacular dessert for years to come. A brownie tart base is topped with a thick layer of coffee cream and finished with toffee shards shaped to resemble flames. Arrange the shards in a circle and pop a few birthday candles in the middle before lighting and bringing to the table, for the full bonfire effect.
Finish the night with mugs of velvety hot chocolate. We’ve given our hot chocolate a gingerbread spin, with hints of ground ginger, cinnamon and star anise. Add a slug of Frangelico or amaretto, or keep it alcohol-free, the choice is yours. You could also make the hot chocolate earlier in the day, and decant into flasks to drink at the fireworks.
