Maison Bremond Provence calendar
This beautiful calendar comes in a wooden box, and contains 3 puzzles and a board game, so this is a great one for families. Inside each box is a mini version of a treat from Provence, including flavoured olive oils, biscuits, pistachio cream, flavoured salts and even mini toiletries too, such as the brand’s lavender hand soap. Limited stock is available.
Best thing Many of the lovely items inside come in mini reusable jars, and the sturdy wooden box is a lovely thing that you can use long past Christmas.
Taste credentials We loved the pistachio and hazelnut spreads, so good you can lick them straight from a spoon. Available from Sous Chef (£60).
Venchi’s Prestige advent calendar
Venchi have been manufacturing chocolate for over 100 years and their premium quality chocolate product is the star of this calendar, their most affordable option this Christmas. It opens up like a book and is filled with 25 different chocolates, from pristine pralines to almond-paste filled treats. Each drawer houses something uniquely delicious, as well as a charming Christmas picture or two to put a smile on your face.

This limited edition coffee chocolate advent calendar from Rave coffee is not to be missed by lovers of coffee flavoured chocolates. Teaming up with the finest chocolatiers in the Cotswolds, they’ve created 6 fantastic flavours, each of them handmade. Our tester was not afraid to say this is the best advent calendar they’ve ever tried…
Best thing: For those whose favourite flavour in a box of chocolates is the coffee one, to have a full calendar of them will be a dream.
Taste credentials: It’s incredibly hard to pick a favourite, but for lovers of Biscoff, the milk chocolate coffee caramel with Biscoff crumb is hard to beat. Available from Rave (£24.95).
Lindt teddy augmented reality advent calendar
Lindt’s famous golden teddy has been brought into 2023 with an animated ‘augmented reality’ which includes a story a day to keep kids entertained through the 24 day countdown to Christmas. Each door will surprise you as teddies, balls and squares could all be inside: it’s good to keep things interesting.
Best thing You’ll have kids racing down for breakfast to watch the latest adventure – win win. Day 24’s full sized Lindt bear is a thing of joy that could be shared.

The Courtyard Dairy’s cheese advent calendar
For those who prefer their daily treats savoury rather than sweet, this excellent cheese advent calendar from experts at Yorkshire’s The Courtyard Dairy is a wonderful option. To ensure optimum freshness, the cheese gets delivered in two boxed sets: with 12 cheeses being delivered on the 30th November and the next 12 cheeses delivered on 12th December.
Best thing Each delivery contains twelve 80g parcels of cheese, so this is a healthy quantity of the good stuff for cheese fans. Labelled with the correct day to open, there are tasting notes included for each cheese to open on the day PLUS Michelin-starred chefs’ tips for cheese and a booklet on the history of British Isles cheese. If that weren’t enough, you’ll find drink pairing notes from sommeliers too.
Taste credentials You’ll find well-balanced goat’s cheese with plenty of grassy acidity, savoury blues and crumbly British territorials with a moreish milkiness in this calendar. The Courtyard Dairy’s cheese hygiene is clearly top-notch with each cheese tasting only of itself. Imagine the cheese pie you could make with any leftovers, too… Available from The Courtyard Dairy (£115).
We love this smaller, simpler advent calendar for adults and coffee nerds. Each day for 12 days you can enjoy a different brew. Beans come from Notes coffee, who work with independent farmers, and each bag contains 30g of ground coffee, enough to make a french press for that needed caffeine hit on a winter’s morning.
Best thing We love the fact that each coffee is a completely different variety and comes with information on the coffee farm in an accompanying booklet.
Taste credentials Tasting notes range from the citrussy to the honeyed – the tropical Bolivian number was one of our favourites with plenty of acidity, while the festive blend felt suitably warming for Christmas. Available from Selfridges (£29.99).
This bright and colourful calendar is emblazoned with London landmarks decked out for Christmas time, and contains 23 festive inspired truffles and 1 mini chocolate bar from Love Cocoa. The brand is owned by descendants of James Cadbury, who wanted to create an artisan chocolate company with sustainability at the heart (the company has planted over half a million trees).
Best thing We love that there are 4 varieties of truffles, in globe and heart shapes to keep you guessing through the month.
Taste credentials We loved the festive booziness inside the deeply flavoured dark chocolate truffles, which are definitely intended for grownups. For kids the brand has 2 milk chocolate options available this year. Available from Love Cocoa (£25).
Every inch of this large advent calendar by certified B Corp Pip & Nut is covered in illustrations of London landmarks plus a special Christmas poem on the back. Window numbers are pleasingly tricky to find and gold foil twinkles on the front too.
Taste credentials Find a selection of amply-sized peanut or almond butter cups behind the windows – extremely rich and chocolately meaning one a day is…just enough.
Best thing? For every calendar sold, Pip& Nut donate three jars of their peanut butter to their local foodbank making this a charitable choice of calendar.
Available from Pip ‘n’ Nut (£20 with free UK delivery).
Lakrids Liquorice Advent Calendar
This is a hefty calendar from Lakrids by Bülow made in thick black card and opening like a book to reveal windows inside. Order on its own or with a hefty 125g pot of salty licorice caramels with more luxurious bundles going up to £180.

Tony’s Chocolonely Countdown Calendar
A jumbo advent calendar housing 25 ‘Tiny Tony’s’ from the company that’s taken the chocolate world by storm. This is chocolate with a conscience: Tony’s pays higher prices for its traceable cocoa beans and aims to end slavery in the chocolate industry.
Taste credentials Easy-to-love creamy taste. Dark milk pretzel toffee and milk caramel sea salt are among the 10 flavours.
Best thing Daily messages share the Tony’s ethos, from a QR code to a cocoa documentary to a friendly prompt to help someone with their Christmas shopping.
Available from Whole Foods Market and Sainsbury’s, £13 for 255g.
Bonne Maman limited edition advent calendar
Bonne Maman’s limited edition advent calendar comes in an uplifting carousel design that’s a pretty display in a window or above a fireplace. Inside, the 23 doors hide a 30g ‘mini’ jar of jam or marmalade, each in fruit variety seasonal flavour pairing created especially for this Christmas.
Taste credentials Load your toast up with their white nectarine & peach jam with lemon verbena. Or perhaps try a pear with cocoa Nibs, chestnut & orange preserve on your Christmas porridge.
Best thing Beyond its good looks? This calendar includes limited edition flavours making it a stellar choice for jam fans. Available from Bonne Maman (£33).
Bird & Blend Tea Advent Calendar
A tea advent calendar to give December mornings a boost. This jolly cardboardcalendar contains 48 plastic-free tea bags. There’s a good mix of fruity infusions, herbal, green and black teas, including festive blends.
Best thing Trying the different flavours. Opening the doors was a fun start to the day and got us out of a cuppa rut. Mini brewing guides on each label mean you can time your cup to perfection, and we loved jotting down our tasting notes on the calendar’s ‘top blends’ panel.
Taste credentials We were especially partial to the flavoured black teas.
Limited-edition hazelnut rocher had hints of everyone’s favourite nutty clusters, while Chocolate Digestives was smooth and malty. Available from Bird & Blend (£38).
This adorable 3D chocolate filled house from Kinder is available exclusively at Selfridges, and is decorated with a playful festive scene to get the excitement going. There are 24 doors to open, and behind each is a tasty chocolate.
Taste credentials The 24 Kinder chocolate bars offer the reliable milky sweetness we have come to expect from the brand, and you’ll even find a Kinder egg or two inside as well.
Best thing At 234g this advent is much more generous than most chocolate calendars. Available from Selfridges & Co, for £19.99.
