The London Restaurant Festival
I love autumn: that renewed fondness of pulling on a pair of socks and a wooly jumper, the crunch of leaves beneath my feet – and the liberty to gorge myself on seasonal delights, safe in the knowledge that the only flesh I’ll have on display for the next six months is that on my (slightly rounder) face. So it’s with hungry enthusiasm that I welcome the arrival of The London Restaurant Festival – nearly three weeks full to bursting with gastronomic treats and purse-friendly offers.
This annual citywide celebration of eating out serves up something for any taste and budget. Book a table at a participating restaurant and enjoy a three-course meal for as little as £10, dine at a Michelin-starred restaurant or don your glad rags and join TV funnyman Jonathan Ross at BAFTA 195 Piccadilly for a memorable evening of food and film.
Can’t decide on a restaurant? Hop aboard the Gourmet Odyssey fleet of buses and journey around the capital’s diverse foodie landscape, stopping at one restaurant for your starter, another for your main, then dessert at a third. The evening will begin with a glass of fizz, then each course will be matched with Champagne Laurent Perrier. That’s one for my diary then…
