Tamarind
Tamarind is a fruit, originating in Asia, with a sweet and tangy flavour. It is sometimes referred to as the Indian date which gives you a clue as to its natural form.
Tamarind is used widely in dishes from India through to South East Asia and is often sold in supermarkets as a puréed pulp in jars.
Fun fact: it’s one of the main ingredients in Worcestershire sauce!
