The whisky cocktail for people who don’t like whisky! Starward’s Left-Field whisky is light and refreshing and their team have come up with this cocktail recipe which shows how with just a few ingredients you can make whisky into a light, summery drink. If you can’t find Starward you can use your favourite lighter, younger whisky.
Ingredients
- 60ml Starward Left-Field whisky (available from Waitrose, or use another light whisky)
- 10ml sugar syrup
- 2 dashes orange bitters
- 2 dashes Angostura bitters
- Pink grapefruit to garnish
Method
- Add the whisky, bitters and sugar syrup to a mixing glass. Stir over ice then strain and serve in a rocks glass over more ice. Garnish with a pink grapefruit slice.

To make your own sugar syrup: in a small pan, dissolve 300g caster sugar in 150ml water over a gentle heat. Bring to the boil, then cool and store in a clean bottle/jar in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.
