WHAT THEY DO
Annie Fenwick and Shelly Dodds were inspired by Jersey’s outstanding raw materials to create an artisan product that locals would love and tourists could take away.
Inspired by the gourmet salt (fleur de sel) produced just nine miles away on the French coast, a Jersey company recently began producing its own quality sea salt. Annie and Shelly added the salt to local Jersey cream and butter and set about making La Crémière’s salted caramel sauce.
After four months of recipe testing, and a lot of burnt pans, La Crémière launched their product in July 2015 and sold 8,000 bottles in the first six months. The pair say, “We love selling at markets and seeing the look on people’s faces when they try our sauce”.
Annie and Shelley believe they make a product that Jersey can be proud of, with each jar bearing a “Genuine Jersey” stamp. The “ultimate good mood food”, La Crémière’s Jersey Salted Caramel Sauce also does good for the community, with 50p from every bottle being donated to Durrell’s Wildlife Park in Jersey, a conservation zoo for endangered species and a favourite of their families.
