Cranhattan cocktail

The seriously sophisticated Mad Men-esque manhattan gets a festive twist by way of cranberry jelly, which dissolves into the mixture adding tangy sweetness.
Another classic cocktail gets a Christmas makeover in our mince-pie old fashioned recipe.
- Serves 10

Before you start
make ahead This bottled cocktail will keep indefinitely in the fridge or freezer.
Ingredients
- 600ml rye whiskey
- 150ml sweet vermouth
- 150g smooth cranberry jelly or sauce
- ¼ tsp fine salt
- 20 dashes angostura bitters
- Cocktail cherries or fresh cranberries to serve
Method
- Put the whiskey, vermouth, cranberry jelly, salt and bitters in a container with 200ml water. Seal and shake or stir vigorously until the jelly dissolves into the liquid. Funnel into a bottle, then cover and keep in the freezer.
- To serve, shake or stir, then pour roughly 100ml into a coupe glass. Garnish with a cocktail cherry or cranberry.
