Sex on the beach
- Published: 2 Aug 24

The sex on the beach cocktail was hugely popular in the 1980s, not just for its risqué name but its pleasing two-tone appearance. The key to this unashamedly sweet cocktail is first to shake together the orange and peach ‘beach’, then the cranberry and vodka ‘sex’ and gently pour it on top. One for when the sun’s shining and Duran Duran’s on the playlist.

Ingredients
- 75ml smooth orange juice
- 25ml peach schnapps
- 75ml cranberry juice
- 50ml vodka
- Splash of Chambord (optional)
- Cocktail cherry and orange slice to garnish (optional)
Method
- Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Pour in the smooth orange juice and peach schnapps, then shake vigorously for 30 seconds. Strain into a hurricane glass or tall glass filled with ice.
- Pour the cranberry juice and vodka into the same shaker, shake again, then gently pour it into the glass – it should settle on top of the orange juice and peach schnapps. Add a splash of the Chambord (optional), then garnish in the most kitsch way you can think of – we used a cocktail cherry and an orange slice.
