Butterbeer

Our butterbeer recipe is inspired by JK Rowling‘s Harry Potter books – a wizard drink often imbibed at The Three Broomsticks Inn. We’ve made ours not so child-friendly with a good glug of toffee vodka.
- Makes 1
- Ready in 5 minutes
Ingredients
- 3 tbsp advocaat
- 4 tsp toffee vodka (from Ocado and thedrinkshop.com)
- Yellow food colouring (optional)
- A thumb-size piece of fresh ginger
- Alcoholic ginger beer, to serve
Method
- Put the advocaat in a pint glass with toffee vodka and a few drops of the yellow colouring.
- Coarsely grate the ginger into a clean J-cloth or square of muslin, gather up the cloth around it and squeeze some of the juice into the glass (how much is up to you – we like it quite fiery).
- Top with the ginger beer and serve while there’s still a head on top.

For an alcoholic-free drink we suggest putting a scoop of caramel ice cream in a glass and topping with ginger beer to make a float.
