What to do with leftover fresh chives
A member of the onion family, use any leftover chives to add flavour to recipes such as dumplings, salads and pasta dishes.
Recipes using fresh chives
- Potato dumplings stuffed with curd cheese & chives

How to use up leftover fresh chives
- Cool dip
Mix snipped chives through soured cream, then season with lemon juice, salt and pepper. Drizzle over roasted veg or serve as a dip with crudités. - Garlic bread
Mix snipped chives with chopped fresh parsley, crushed garlic and salt and pepper, then mix into softened butter. Slice baguettes thickly (not all the way through), then spread plenty of butter between slices. Wrap in foil, then bake for 10-15 minutes until oozing garlicky butter. - Savoury muffins
Stir snipped chives into a basic savoury muffin batter along with a pinch of smoked paprika and some grated cheese. Search delicious magazine.co.uk for savoury muffin recipes. - Potato salad
Toss snipped fresh chives through boiled potatoes (at room temperature) along with a dollop of soured cream, lemon juice and seasoning.
